MUSIC
Contemporary music in the Philippines- refers to compositions that have
adopted ideas and elements from 20th century art music in the West.
Ryan Cayabyab- composer obtained Bachelor of Music degree at the University of
the Philippines’ College of Music and composed the award-winning Kay Ganda ng
Ating Musika.
Lucio San Pedro- started composing as early as his elementary days and the
composer of Sa Ugoy ng Duyan.
Rodolfo S. Cornejo- composer with 26 compositions listed by the United
Publishing Company Inc. at the age of 14.
Levi Celerio- known for creating music with a mouth-blown leaf.
Nicanor Abelardo- his music compositions style contain hazy tones, dissonance,
and unusual chordal combinations.
Lucrecia Kasilag- demonstrated a fusion of Eastern and Western styles in using
instruments, melody, harmony, and rhythm in the compositions?
Jonas Baes is known for writing music utilizing unorthodox musical instrumets
like Bean-pod rattles, iron-nail chimes and bamboo scrapers.
Rodolfo Cornejo- known for extemporaneous thematic improvisations based on
the letters of people’s names.
Kastilyong Buhangin, Dito Ba, Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan- songs that give
tribute to George Canseco.
Jose Maceda- his songs have a combined sounds of the environment with ethnic
instruments.
Santiago Suarez- his compositions has a tonal and catchy melodies, harmonies
follow the traditional classical progression, easy to understand without the
complexities of form and structure and mixture of the soulful kundiman style.
Bayan Ko- nationalistic song of Constancio de Guzman
Spain and America- Western countries that influenced the compositional
techniques found in the works of Filipino composers of contemporary Philippine
music.

Photography- the science, art, and practice of creating durable images by
recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of
an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as
photographic film.
Photography is truly a “modern” art form because it is considered one of the
most powerful means of communication, it captures the scene objectively and
uses technology for enhancement, and it is used on journalism, advertising
education and even in court of law.
Elements of arts a photographer must consider in capturing a great picture: Color,
Form, Light, Shadow, and Composition.
Immediacy- characteristics of Photography that pertains as “it is seen in ‘true to
life” and ‘of the moment”
John K. Chua- Filipino photographer who founded the foundation called
Photography with a Difference. (PWD) that gives free workshops to children with
special needs.
