Module 1 : Subject - Verb Agreement
Verbs can be of 2 types : action words or conditional verbs.
- Conditional verbs signify a condition or state of being.
Like : is, are, am, was, were, been, being, to be.
- In action words, the person doing the action is called the subject.
Rule
The subject and the verb should either both be singular or both be plural.
Example - The man snores loudly.
The men snore loudly

Gerund
‘ing” word that is originally a verb but is functioning as a noun. It can be the subject or object in a
sentence.
Example : Juggling the demands of both my work and family life often seems too much to bear.
Notes :
- The presence of interrupting phrases does not change the subject from singular to plural.
They are : as well as, along with, together with, including, in addition to, especially.
- ‘And’ is the only verb that can create a plural..
