1.1 Identify five stages of early number learning and create a
learning activity for each stage. Illustrate the use of specific
resources for each activity.
Stage 1 – Perceptual counting
In this stage the focus is to add two collections of items . A number pattern
recognition process is taking place. Learners are developing this ability during
this stage . In this stage, the participant sees, hears, or feels objects.
Activity for perceptual counting
An activity that would be fun is where you give students a picture with different
animals such as mice rabbits dogs etc in this case it will be star fishes shells
and normal fish and then ask them to count how many of each animal there
is and then write it in a block .
Stage 2 – Figurative counting
In this stage children Solve addition problems by counting on. Counting items
from screened collections is possible for the child, but he starts at 1 This
student is capable of counting collections that are partly or completely
concealed.
Activity for figurative counting
Count the items and then circle the correct number with blue .
After completing colour the pictures !

Instead of counting from one, the child uses counting-on to solve addition
