Organisations are made up of people and function through them.
Without people organisations cannot exist.
People are most significant resource of any organisation.
This resource is called human resource.
Human resource management (HRM) is concerned with the human
beings in an organization. The management of people is a very
important and challenging job.
– Refers to the qualities of human resources i.e Heterogeneous,
source of other resources, thinking resource, appreciate &
depreciate.
They can not be operated like a machine or shifted and altered like
template in a room layout.
They therefore need a tactful handling by management personnel.
Meaning of HRM
HRM is management function concerned with hiring, motivating
and maintaining people in an organization.
It is the process of managing people of an organization with a
human approach.
– i.e View people as an important resource.
HRM is concerned with policies and practices that ensure the best
use of the human resources for fulfilling the organizational and
individual goals.
