Within 10 days after taking over the rule in Tamil Nadu, the new leader has
focused on Solar Energy to revive the poor power situation and aim to formulate a
new policy for it.
The government can streamline all solar energy projects in villages, Panchayats,
municipalities and cities. If it is a hydel or nuclear or thermal or wind power the
power generation can be done in one particular place only; but not so in the case of
solar energy.
It is widespread and can be started at any place on this earth.
To overcome the 19% transmission losses and to make full use of the substations,
the Tamilnadu government should establish Solar Energy projects in various
locations without fail.
Each Panchayats can generate 3mw to 5mw of solar power. For this an area of 25
acres of land is sufficient. To generate 1mw we have to spend Rs.13 to 14 crores
say the experts. It is possible to establish a solar energy project in any place in
Tamil Nadu within a year.
Such special features are not seen in other sources of energy which will generate
power.
This government established the Rain Harvest System in Tamilnadu and earned a
good name. Similarly a special attention on Solar Energy Projects will definitely
give fruitful results.
Instead of sending the power to grid it is possible to adopt non-grid system.
, Accordingly 2kw to 3kw solar power can be generated in 5000 houses in
Tamilnadu. For this 100 Sq.ft. space is sufficient. To produce 1kw solar power we
have to spend Rs.2 lakhs. For 3kw power we have to invest Rs.6 lakhs TEDA
offers 30% concession for solar power producers. So the investor in Solar Power
project has to spend Rs.4.20 lakh and the remaining amount can be financed by
Power Finance Corporation at low 5% interest to encourage solar energy
production.
If the private companies or individuals, who invest in solar energy projects, are
given compensation for the various tax paid by them, like house tax, corporation
tax, wealth tax, sales tax, VAT Tax and professional tax for 6 years, then many
will be interested in investing in Solar Energy projects. Solar Energy equipments
will function for 25 years say the experts. So, after 6 years for the remaining 19
years if 3kw power is given at free of cost to them then many will join hands to
make it successful.
The government should not consider this investment as a subsidy and think that
individuals have come forward to invest on behalf of the government.
Solar Parks can be established in 10-15 locations in Tamilnadu.
In each location 300mw solar power can be generated. For this plan one individual
will be given permission to generate 1mw to 5mw solar power. In the same Solar
