It’s a process to accomplish organizational goals through planning, organizing,
leading, and controlling.
Manager activities:
make decisions
allocate resources
direct activities
Planning:
The first managerial function is setting the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and
objectives.
Includes defining an organization‘s goals.
Developing a strategy for achieving these goals.
coordinating a comprehensive set of plans to implement the strategy.
1. Goals: long-term accomplishments the organization wishes to attain.
2. Objectives: short-term statements detailing how to achieve the organization’s
goals.
3. Vision: a broad explanation of why the organization exists and where it’s trying to
go.
4. Mission statement: outlines the organization‘s fundamental purposes.
