Introduction: Building Proteins from RNA Lab
The function of this lab is to analyze the molecular process that builds proteins from
the information carried by RNA. The last question we tried to answer was: "How is protein
made from the information provided by an RNA molecule?" The hypothesis is that while RNA
determines amino acid sequences in proteins and polypeptides through a two-step process,
translation from mRNA to tRNA takes place at ribosomes in the cytoplasm.
Materials:
● tRNA sequence
● Human cell
● Helicase
● Protein structure chart
Procedure:
1.) Transcribe information in DNA to mRNA
2.) Locate the codons
3.) Translate the mRNA
Groups:
● The test group is the codons.
● The control group is the anti-codons.
