Interactive System for Information (P3)
My design for an informative interactive system is a revamp for the information boards of Disneyland Park
and Walt Disney Studios Park, where just one board is situated within both parks. The boards will be a lot
easier to use, incorporate new technology, display much more information, and a number of the boards
should be placed throughout the parks. This will offer the same features but with more information than
Disneyland’s current smartphone app, which will also allow users without a smartphone (36% of adults in
Western Europe excluding children) to access live, important, and interesting information to improve their
experience.
The current information board has a list of some of the
most popular attractions and a live feed of the queue time
these attractions, and show/parade times. As well as
written opening and closing times of the parks and
restaurants. This makes these one-off boards very limited
in information as they only have two to three rides from
each park so visitors have to walk to the rides themselves
to view waiting times for other attractions. In addition, it
does not show crucial information such as height or age
restrictions, if rides are open or closed for refurbishment,
staff locations, restaurant locations, restrooms, etcetera.

Input/output The information boards will be 30-40-inch LCD touch screens within green frames and a light-up
information sign such as the current information boards. The screen will be touch screen which
can be controlled by finger but ‘touch pens’ (styluses) will be provided in the frame to make the
interface more hygienic and keep it looking cleaner for longer without staff having to constantly
wipe down the surface. The screen will show a large map of the park they are currently in with a
symbol stating ‘You are Here.’, as well as being able to see the maps of other parks by moving
the screen. To the right and bottom of the screen will be a filter so users can find what they are
looking for such as rides, restrooms or restaurants so that the screen is not cluttered with icons.
For whatever filters are turned on, the icons will be similar to the one in the above map but with
the name of the ride/facility, if it is open or closed, and ‘press for more info’ beneath it.
