ABSTRACT
Electronic health records (EHRs) have become widely implemented in healthcare
settings, including Longisa Hospital. While in adoption of EHRs numerous benefits
such as improved efficiency, accessibility and communication, there is growing
concern about their potential negative impacts on healthcare quality and patient
care outcomes. Therefore this research proposal aims to investigate the negative
impacts of EHR implementation on healthcare quality and patient outcomes at Longisa
Hospital.

CHAPTER ONE
1.1:INTRODUCTION
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have become an integral part of modern healthcare
systems, aiming to improve the quality of patient care and enhance healthcare
outcomes. Longisa Hospital has recently implemented an EHR system with the
intention of streamlining medical processes and enhancing the delivery of
healthcare services. However, it is essential to examine the negative impacts that
EHR implementation may have on health care quality and patient outcomes. This
research proposal aims to investigate and analyze these potential negative effects,
providing valuable insights for improving the utilization and implementation of EHR
systems in Longisa Hospital.
1.2:BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Electronic Health Records are computerized systems that store and manage patient
medical information, including medical history, diagnoses, treatments, and test
results. The implementation of EHR systems has gained momentum globally. The
implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) in healthcare systems has
brought several benefits, such as improved accessibility and coordination of
patient data, enhanced communication between healthcare providers, and potential
cost savings. However, there have also been negative impacts associated with EHR
implementation that can affect healthcare quality and patient outcomes. Let's
discuss the background information regarding the negative impacts of EHR
implementation in Longisa Hospital and compare it with other hospitals
worldwide.Negative Impacts of EHR Implementation on Healthcare Quality and Patient
Outcomes:Workflow Disruptions: Transitioning from paper-based systems to EHRs often
requires significant changes in healthcare workflows. The initial adjustment period
can lead to disruptions in clinical processes, which may affect the efficiency of
healthcare delivery and patient care.user Interface Challenges: The design and
usability of EHR systems can vary, and some implementations may have complex or
unintuitive user interfaces. Difficulties in navigating and inputting data may
increase the likelihood of errors and decrease the efficiency of healthcare
providers, potentially impacting patient safety and outcomes.interoperability
Issues: EHR systems from different vendors may lack compatibility, making it
challenging to exchange patient data seamlessly between different healthcare
organizations. This can hinder care coordination, especially when patients seek
treatment or transfer records between hospitals or clinics.Data Entry and
Documentation Burden: EHR implementation often requires healthcare providers to
spend more time on data entry and documentation, which can be time-consuming and
take away from direct patient care. This increased administrative burden may lead
to provider burnout and impact the overall quality of care provided.privacy and
Security Concerns: EHR systems store vast amounts of sensitive patient information,
raising concerns about data privacy and security. Inadequate security measures or
system vulnerabilities can potentially expose patient records to unauthorized
access or breaches, compromising patient privacy and trust in the healthcare
system.comparing Longisa Hospital with Other Hospitals Worldwide,To compare the
negative impacts of EHR implementation in Longisa Hospital with other hospitals
worldwide, specific data on the implementation and its consequences in Longisa
Hospital and other hospitals would be required. Longisa Hospital is located in
