, ABSTRACT
The increasing incidence of terrorism and major criminal acts underscore the need for
emergency prevention policies in many organizations around the world. Terrorism activities in
Kenya has increased in the last few years affecting public facilities, Shopping Malls and
academic institutions. The main objective of this study will be to examine the response strategies
adopted in combating terrorism in higher learning Institutions in Kenya. The specific objectives
will be to: examine the level of preparedness to terrorism threat in Kenyan universities; assess
the effect of terrorism on security alertness in Kenyan universities and evaluate the effectiveness
of terror warnings and resource deployments in Kenyan universities. The study will adopt a
survey research design. Data will be collected using questionnaires and observational checklists.
The data collected will be analysed using descriptive statistics. The result will be discussed based
on the findings from the research.
