Agriculture, Art and Design and Computer sciences should be added to the senior phase that I’m teaching at the moment as they will assist the
learners in different ways.
Agriculture
Learning is made more relevant by including Agriculture as a subject in the senior phase. Educators have suggested that the integration of
agriculture into general curriculum would help students learn based upon the arguments of experimental learning(Dewey, 1938; Mabie and
Baker, 1996), a community - based curriculum (Fasheh, 1990), and authentic or applied learning in real-life situations (Wehlage, Newmann
and Secada, 1996).In agriculture ,learners learn and understand the soil formation process, the water cycle, and how the seasons change. In
this instance, teaching learners about Agriculture enables them to feel linked to life. The connection motif emphasized the significance of
comprehending the ecosystem from an ecological and systems perspective. Agriculture expands the knowledge base of learners and maybe
used as a framework for reading, writing, math, social studies and language activities. Agriculture’s true nature in terms of its significance to
the community, as the school is surrounded by farmland. Agriculture is something we study and see in action. Agriculture can be introduced
to students and integrated into their daily lives or surroundings to create authentic learning experiences. It helps learners to know where their
food comes from.Learners will be better be able
to understand the management and production of food if agriculture and farming are significant academic areas. This will broaden their experience and
improves their comprehension of the seasonality of crops, harvesting and transportation.Agriculture prepares learners for careers as farmers as well as the
scientists, dietitians, teachers, and host of other occupations. Building the basis for knowledgeable consumers and agriculturalists requires both classroom
learning and practical agricultural experiences outside of the classroom.
Art and Design
Learning through arts fosters the growth of innovative problem solving abilities.Through teaching and learning of arts can help students understand complex
ideas by graphically presenting them. Most children benefit from art training in the development of their motor, verbal, social, decision making, risk taking,
and imaginative skills.Learners who might not ordinarily be interested in classwork can benefit from the integration of art with other subjects. The introduction
of Art and design help learners to develop critical thinking skills by encouraging them to take their time and observe the environment more carefully and
thoroughly. One has the chance to learn new talents by studying Art and design. Learners can acquire expert expertise in fields like photography and digital
technologies in addition to learning about various art forms, media, and approaches. Through learning Art and Design help learners to gain the ability to value
