RDS is a syndrome presenting with signs of neonatal respiratory distress.
Its an acute hyaline membrane disease in premature neonates(below 32weeks ).
RDS is due to inadequate surfactant where the alveoli and terminal bronchioles
collapse leading to lung non-compliance.
Knowledge on Embryonic development is essential in understanding its
parthogenesis.
