The nature of teaching
In its broadest sense teaching is a process that facilitates learning. Teaching is the specialized application
of knowledge, skills, and attributes designed to provide unique service to meet the educational needs of
the individual and of society. The choice of learning activities whereby the goal of education are realized
in the school is the responsibility of the teaching profession.
In addition to providing students with learning opportunities to meet curriculum outcome, teaching
emphasizes the development of values and guides students in their social relationship. Teachers employ
practices that develop positive self-concept in students. Although the work of teachers typically takes
place in a classroom setting, the direct interaction between teacher and student is the single most
important element in teaching.
Teaching as a profession
We often use the term profession in a generic sort of way referring to what is your trade or vocation.
Profession is derived from the word, “Profiteor” meaning to profess. The connotation here is that a
professional is a person who possesses knowledge of something and has a commitment to a particular
set of values both of which are generally well accepted characteristics of professions.

one needs allowed to practice or work.
The body of people who make up the occupation can be referred to us the……… profession (legal
medical, engineering, Etc.)
Members of a profession usually have significant responsibility for other people or resources.

The intellectual operation means that the professional should have some cognitive skills such as
thinking ability, reasoning ability, memory, concept formation, language ability, Etc.

A professional should have the effective communication techniques.

Self-concept or self-image
Academic organization
Leadership quality and social skill.
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Education is a practical activity of philosophical thought. Every educational practice illumined with the
backdrop of philosophy. Educational Philosophy refers to the application of philosophical methods to
the theory and practice of education. Philosophy is the basis of all education. It determines the goals
towards which education has to go. In few words without philosophy, education would be a blind effort
