Hawaiians) because American planters and business people were tightening the control of
Hawaii and threatening the monarchy. On a trip to England in 1887, she heard about a
"revolutionary movement by those of American birth" in her Pacific Island homeland. While the
royal party sent a ship out to Honolulu she noticed that the Americans were taking over her land.

overthrown. She was removed from power but continued to fight to get back the throne. She was
