Human Rights Act The Human Rights Act is a UK law passed in 1998.
It means that you can defend your rights in the
UK courts and that public organisations (including
the Government, the Police and local councils)
must treat everyone equally, with fairness,
dignity and respect
The Convention on the Rights of a Child The Convention changed the way children are
viewed and treated – i.e., as human beings with a
distinct set of rights instead of as passive objects
of care and charity
The Children Act The Children Act 1989 allocates duties to local
authorities, courts, parents and other agencies in
the United Kingdom, to ensure children are
safeguarded and their welfare is promoted
The Care Standards Act Care Standards Act 2000 (CSA) is an Act of the
