We should have a good understanding of the basics, whether it's a programming
language or anything else. For example, if you want to drive a car, you need to
know where the steering wheel, clutch, accelerator, and brake are located, as well
as how to change gears. These are the fundamentals that we need to learn.

Without a solid foundation in the basics, it will be difficult to understand more
advanced concepts. So, let's start with the basics and gradually progress into
programming.

Introduction to Java
Java is a programming language that was developed by James Gosling and his team in
1991. The first version of Java was released in 1996 by Sun Microsystems.

Why Java was named Java?
Originally, Java was named Oak because James Gosling had an oak tree outside his
office. However, they had to change the name as there was already a company named
Oak Technologies. After brainstorming for a new name, James Gosling came up with
the name Java while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Java Technologies
Java has a vast range of technologies available that make it versatile and
powerful. Some of the key technologies in Java include:

Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
Java Development Kit (JDK)
Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
Java Standard Edition (SE)
Java Enterprise Edition (EE)
JavaFX
Java Servlet
JavaServer Pages (JSP)
Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)
Java: A Coffee Bean Turned Programming Language
Java is not only a popular programming language but also the name of a coffee bean
found in Indonesia. This coffee bean is used to make a flavorful and hot espresso
coffee. James Gosling, the creator of Java, found the name fitting and suggested it
to his team during a meeting. The entire team agreed and the oak project was
renamed Java.

Java Technologies and Platforms
In the world of Java, there are three main technologies or platforms:

Java SE (Standard Edition): This platform is the foundation for all other Java
technologies and is used for creating desktop and server applications.
Java EE (Enterprise Edition): This platform is used for building large-scale,
enterprise-level applications.
Java ME (Micro Edition): This platform is designed for developing applications for
small devices such as mobile phones and embedded systems.
Java Editions
Java is a programming language that comes in different editions, each serving a
specific purpose:

Java Standard Edition (Java SE): This edition includes all the basic APIs and
features of Java, making it suitable for general programming purposes. It also
includes libraries like collections.
Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE): This edition is designed for creating web
enterprise applications. It offers various frameworks and tools to facilitate web
development.
