URINE EXAMINATION
1 PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
URINE: It is the filtered part of the blood which is
filtered in kidney by nephrons. Millions of nephrons
are present in a kidney. Glomerular filtration is done
in kidney. urine acts as a vehicle in the excreation of
waste product.
Collection of urine
Urine is collected in a sterile vial which is aseptic in
nature I;e free from bacteria etc.
instructions for patients : Early morning urine
specimen is preferred which is concentrated present
in urinary bladder for large time VIVA. MID STREAM

It is checked by measuring cylinder of different
capacity normal person contain 2500ml in 24 hours
(average 1200ml). condition: physiological when
excess water intake
Seasonal : in winter season
Pathological diseases related
Diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus. Diabetes is a
metabolism disorder when liver secrete no insulin the
glucose level body increase. Βcells of pancrease
release harmone which control sugar level in body.
Excess glucose in body cause diabetes which cause
polyuria
Diabetes insipidus is a rare kind of diabetes in which
there is frequent urination, bed wetting, water intake
is more ( micturition: urge to go urine)
Oligouria:when 500ml of urine is passed in24 hours
e.g renal diseases
Nocturia : when 500ml of urine is passed during night
e.g renal colculliu(stone)
Anuria: when there is c omplete cessation of urine
(150ml in 24 hrs )e.g renal failure
