Steps to Becoming a Successful Software Developer
There are no shortcuts to success, but here are some basic steps that can help you
on your path to becoming a software developer:

Define Your End Goal: Determine what you want to achieve and what you enjoy doing.
Learn Fundamentals: Avoid jumping straight into frameworks and libraries. Instead,
first focus on learning the core concepts and principles of the language or
platform you want to use.
Choose a Language: Select the language that suits your interests and development
needs, whether it's JavaScript, PHP, Python or any other server-side languages.
Explore Learning Options: There are many free resources to help you learn, such as
YouTube for shorter videos, Free Code Camp and Codecademy both of which offer
structured curricula and CodeWars for honing your algorithm-solving skills. Choose
the option that works best for you and your learning style.
You should have taken some programming courses, whether it was through online
platforms like Udemy or Free Code Camp, or through books or other resources. Now it
is the time to apply what you've learned and create your own projects. Following
online courses is only half of the learning process; you also learn a lot from
doing things on your own and straying away from tutorials.

If you're pursuing web development, create a website where you can showcase your
projects. Make sure to have a live version of the project hosted somewhere so that
employers or clients can view it. If you're creating desktop tools or mobile apps,
have a link to the code and an executable or something that can be used to see your
work.

The next step is to contribute to open source projects. By now, you should have all
the other prerequisites checked-off: having a clear end goal, being proficient in
at least one programming language (and most likely a framework), having resources
and a community to ask for help, having some projects under your belt, a nice
portfolio, and hopefully, an online presence.
