Recap of the group activity
The idea we propose is a sports club which runs twice a week, one day during the week and one day
on the weekend. It will be held in the school and we will use the equipment that the school and
gymnastics has. We have chosen this idea because we have seen that the fields are only used during
PE lessons. So by starting this sports club we can use the fields and the gym for sport activities. We
will hold as many activities as possible that we can fit on the field. This will give people a choice of
anything and the opportunity to try out any new activities.

Team Performance

I feel that the strengths of our proposal were that we had researched our proposed idea very closely
and set out targets from the start. This meant that we would have less obvious problems and if we
were asked a question we would have the necessary answer as we knew what we were doing from
the start. The weaknesses of our proposal were that some of our initial ideas were not possible or
would involve a lot of work. The strengths of our final product were that it was a very efficient way
to bring the local community together and also it means that people who don’t get out much can get
out and socialise. The weaknesses were that we found it difficult to make a cash flow forecast and
took us several goes. Overall I feel that we did not work the best in a group as one person didn’t
really pull their weight. As a team we did not overcome many challenges, but the challenges we did
come across which was that some people were missing. To overcome that we made sure that we
had a plan made prior to the meetings so that we could work efficiently. I gave feedback to the
person who was underperforming and I suggested that she needs to be more organised with us and
pull her weight more as she was the team leader but due to her not doing much work we decided to
change our team leader to me due to my Belbin test results which were the most ‘leader like’ This
did cause group conflict at first but we quickly forgot about it. My recommendation for next time as
that we should be more careful when allocating positions and pay more attentions to strengths so
that we can use them effectively.

To make sure that we managed to achieve our aims, objectives and goals we made sure that our
meetings covered all of them and that we could discuss anything we wanted to as long as they were
linked to this. This worked effectively as it opened up new ideas and paths we hadn’t thought of
previously. Also from our presentation we managed to get feedback from an expert Mererid Jones
who is the director of finance in the national library of Wales and counsellor of Aberystwyth. She
pointed out the main features of our presentation that could be improved. This helped our overall
effectiveness as we had feedback so we could now improve on it.

Throughout our groups innovation proposal I developed a number of skills while creating our pop up
shop. Creating this pop up shop developed my team working and also verbal skills as we had to work
effectively in a team and also put my point across accurately without causing miscommunication.
This helped as I felt much more confident over time when it came to giving out my opinion. I was in
charge of the marketing in the group. This position improved my organisation skills as having to
make posters and advertisement meant that I had to have all the information prepared before I
actually made anything for the pop up shop.
