Inflammation
 When a tendon or a muscle becomes
damaged, a process called
inflammation occurs.
 It is the body’s response to tissue

injury caused by pressure, friction,
overload or repeated load and
external trauma.

,  Inflammation has five symptoms
associated with it; these are:
 Redness, caused by increased blood flow,
(rubor)
 Heat, caused by an increase in blood flow
around the injured area, (calor)
 Pain and tenderness when the injured
area is touched, (dolor)
 Swelling, caused by an accumulation of
fluid around the site of injury, (tumor)
 Reduced function of the injured area,
caused by pain and swelling.
