CARPULUNG RESUSCITATION
Definition
Basic life-saving technique often performed in the emergency department with patients in
cardiac or respiratory arrest .
Objective
To maintain airway patency and circulatory support breathing.
Indication
Victims or patients who are unresponsive, no breathing or no normal breathing (only
gasping).
Caused by sinking and disruption of the heart with Ventricular Fibrillation (VF), Ventricular
Tachycardia (VT), Pulseless Electrical Activity
Contraindications
If helping the victim will endanger the helper, Do Not Resuscitation (DNR)

1. BVM
2. Handscon
3. Pocket mask
4. Tissue rolls
5. Long spinal board
Action Procedure
There are 2 ways to treat cardiac arrest patients based on the location, namely:
1. Hospital Cardiac Arrest (HCA)
2. Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA)
