C-11 Structural organization in animals NCERT Notes biology
The structural organization of animals is characterized by hierarchical levels of complexity. At the cellular level, animals are composed of specialized cells that perform specific functions, organized into tissues such as muscle and nerve. These tissues combine to form organs like the heart and brain. Organs work together within organ systems, like the circulatory and nervous systems, to maintain homeostasis and carry out vital functions. Multiple organ systems make up an organism, creating a complex body plan. In multicellular animals, body symmetry (e.g., bilateral, radial) and segmentation (in some) play key roles. Overall, this organization ensures efficient functioning and adaptation to diverse ecological niches.
