After considering my future prospects and looking into courses at
university, my attention was drawn to business, finance and
economics. From my life experiences to date, i have realised that the
economy affects almost everything in the world we live in. I have
always had a keen interest in the mathematical sides of any scenario
as i believe my problem solving skills and my analytical thinking are
amongst my strongest attributes. Studying maths during my GCSE's
refined my analytical skills as it conveys logic and variables. i would
often have one to one sessions with my teachers to make sure my
maths was always up to scratch. In the future i know that maths will
definitely give me an advantage in this subject. English gave me the
ability to tailor my written work directed at specific audiences. The
sciences have also taught me to draw results from scientific data as
well as highlighting how important it is to pay attention to detail and
be as accurate and precise as possible. Studying 11 subjects at
GCSE level has helped me develop excellent time management
skills. All of these can be used when assessing and evaluating the
economy. With the recent events in the UK surrounding the EU
conundrum, it is fascinating to see how these effects can potentially
contribute towards the value of the British pound. Such current
events tie in conveniently with my choice of study as it will be
highlighting the challenges regarding finances in the modern
world.My current experience of working in retail since 2014, has
allowed me to gain insight on financial challenges and how to
overcome them on a smaller scale. Retail has also given me the
opportunity to develop my character as i am able to display my
abilities to work in a team as well as independently. An example
would be working together in a team to complete a task to achieve
the overall goal of replenishment as well as cash handling and face
to face interactions with customers. Outside my academic life, i
regularly play football as i think it is imperative to remain healthy. As
well as playing football, i frequently exercise in the gym. health is a
very important aspect of life to me as i believe one cannot achieve
the things they want to achieve if they do not take proper care of the
body. i am also progressively learning how to be responsible
financially as i manage my own current account which shows that i
am able to handle and budget money accordingly and studying this
course will help me to develop this further as well as pick up more
attributes along the way. I believe this course will allow me to gain the
knowledge required to allow me to analyse the economic decisions
being made today and propose better situations when needed. I
understand that finance and investment banking will be challenging,
but nonetheless rewarding. It will give me a greater understanding
and more in-depth view of the countries current economic situation. I
