Advantages of holistic care - Answer- -care is more personalised -get viewed as a whole person rather than a medical problem -improves a persons health and wellbeing Disadvantages of holistic care - Answer- -workers are not employed or skilled to manage all needs -doctors look for other issues during diagnosis -most people only want a particular illness treated Inspection - Answer- external bodies monitor services, through inspections, these cover: -observation of service delivery -interviews with staff -evaluating and give a grade -analysis of healthcare service Day-care units - Answer- these are units where individuals go and stay for the day and get cared for 24/7 and can be private or belong to the NHS -usually provide care for mentally ill or elderly people or people who have learning disabilities who need respite care Hospitals - Answer- patients receive treatments from specialised staff and equipment -people are referred here by GP's -provide emergency via A and E -people have the right to choose who they see and which hospital they go to Empowering service users - Answer- service users can be empowered by doing these; -giving individualised care -promoting dignity -promoting independence -providing support for cultures -putting users at the heart of the provision Effects of discrimination - Answer- -anxiety -depression -unemployment -loss of self-esteem -anger -death Positive discrimination - Answer- preferential treatment based on the individual's class, gender, ethnicity, and so forth. Indirect discrimination - Answer- occurs when treating everybody the same way except from one person who is dismissive against but its not as obvious Direct discrimination - Answer- when someone is treated unfavourably because of a personal characteristic protected by the law Unfair Discrimination - Answer- occurs when a person is treated less favourably to another person
