Under Category ratings:
● Airplane

● Free Balloon
Under Class ratings:
● Single-engine land- airplane
● Single-engine sea- airplane
● Multi-engine land- airplane
● Multi-engine sea- airplane
Under type ratings:
● Type of aircraft with minimum crew of at least two pilots only
Instrument rating:
● IR- Airplane
● IR- Helicopter
Above mentioned will be attached to the “mother” license (PPL, CPL, ATPL).
Ground Instructor, Flight Instructor will have a different license
2.2.2.3 AUTHORIZATIONS
● Student Pilot License is actually SPA – Student Pilot Authorization
● Examiner Authorization
2.2.2.4 CERTIFICATES
The following are the medical certificates needed.
● Class 1 for CPL—Class 1 for ATPL – Flight engineer and Flight Navigator license
● Class 2 for PPL – Glider – Free balloon
● Class 3 for ATC license
● Validation
2.2.4.2 CONVERSION OF FLIGHT CREW LICENSES
How to convert foreign PPL license to PPL by Philippines?
● Can only apply if person holds at least PPL privileges
o Present foreign license
o logbook, and
o current medical certificate
o English language proficiency
, ● Apply for CAAP Class 2 medical certificate
● Pass Air Law test
● PPL skill test (checkride)
2.2.7 LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
ELP- English Language Proficiency has levels to demonstrate the ability to speak and understand the
language used for radiotelephony communications
● Operational Level 4- shall no longer be evaluated but must be renewed every 3 years
● Operational Level 5- shall no longer be evaluated but must be renewed every 6 years
● Operational Level 6- shall no longer be evaluated and does not expire
2.3.1.2 GENERAL RULE CONCERNING PILOT LICENSES, RATINGS AND AUTHORIZATIONS
A person shall not act either as pilot-in-command or as co-pilot of an aircraft in any of the categories
unless that person is the holder of a pilot license issued in accordance with the provisions of Part 2.
A person shall not act as a flight crew member of an aircraft registered in the Republic of the Philippines
unless a valid license or a validation certificate is held showing compliance with the specifications of this
Part and appropriate to the duties to be performed by that person.
2.3.1.5 LIMITATION OF PRIVILEGES OF PILOTS WHO HAVE ATTAINED THEIR 60TH BIRTHDAY
60 years old—no longer serve as PIC on international commercial air transport
- No longer serve as PIC in a multi-crew operation unless the other pilot is younger than 60
2.3.1.5.1 CURTAILMENT OF PRIVILEGES OF PILOTS WHO HAVE ATTAINED THEIR 65TH AND 67TH
BIRTHDAY
65 years old—can no longer fly commercial air transport internationally
- No longer be granted flexibility on the medical
67 years old—can no longer fly commercially domestic and internationally
- Can still hold medical but not for commercial
2.3.1.6 RECENT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3 take offs and landings- needs this every 90 days to act as PIC or co-pilot carrying passengers
- Including night operations-- 90 days also
- Cruise relief pilot also needs 90 days currency
2.3.3 PILOT LICENSES, INSTRUMENT AND INSTRUCTOR RATINGS
No person may act as the PIC or co-pilot of an aircraft unless that person holds the
appropriate category, class and type rating for the aircraft to be flown.
Class and Type Ratings
The validity of single-engine class rating is 2 calendar years
multi-engine class rating is 1 calendar year
