, Important terms used during the lecture
• Visual field The visual field refers to the total area in which objects can be see
the side (peripheral) vision as you focus your eyes on a central point
• Optic disc the small circular area at the back of the retina where the optic nerv
enters the eyeball and which is devoid of rods and cones and is not sensitive to
• Atrophy is decrease in size of a body part, cell, organ, or other tissue
• Ocular surface disease (OSD) indicates damage to the surface layers of the e
namely the cornea and conjunctiva
• Conjuctival hyperemia is caused by a pathological vasodilatory response of t
microvasculature in response to inflammation
