“Tamilnadu produces 4500 mw of wind power and hence the norms fixed by
the central power authorities are fulfilled by the wind power production alone”,
say the power sector authorities in Tamilnadu.
But this situation will not continue in that State, because the NVVN has
strongly driven home the point that in all States, out of their total power
consumption , 0.25% should be compulsorily be solar energy.
Also every year there should be an increase of .25% in usage of solar energy
and in 2012, out of the total power consumption 3% should be solar energy, say
the RPO authorities. In this percentage of usage, power obtained from wind and
from other non-conventional methods of power production will not come into
picture.
As per the present solar power consumption in Tamilnadu at least 50 mw,
power has to be produced by solar energy in future.
, At present in 3 places the expansion programs for thermal power production is
taking place. So, if we include this added power production figures, then
Tamilnadu has to generate an additional power of 50 mw from solar energy.
Norms
Based upon the experience and financial background NVVN has recommended
some private parties. They have been instructed to follow certain norms which
are as follows:
1) Solar energy produced should be transferred through 33 kV grids only.
2) The net worth of the company or their directors should be at least Rs 3-5
crores /mw.
