Calculation for Reactions:
Three conditions are used for the calculation of reactions.
ΣFh = 0 (Sum of all the horizontal forces equals to zero)
ΣFv = 0 (Sum of all the vertical forces equals to zero)
ΣM = 0 (Sum of both clockwise and anticlockwise moments is zero)
In this case, There are no horizontal forces, so ΣFh = 0
Now, in case of all the vertical forces, it will be as follows:
ΣFv = 0
RA + RB - 1500 - 1000 - (1000 * 3) = 0
RA + RB = 1500 + 1000 +3000
RA + RB = 5500kg ——————(i)
Now we will calculate one of the reactions using the moment to find
the other reaction using this equation.
ΣM = 0
Clockwise moment - Anticlockwise moment = 0
Clockwise moment = Anticlockwise moment
Taking moment about point ‘A’,
(1000 * 2) + [1000 * 3 * (1.5 + 2)] = (RB *4) + (1500 * 1.5)
2000 + 10500 = 4RB + 2250
