Wireless Network Security
Abstract
A wireless network is an alternative to the traditional wired network which uses radio
signals as the transmission medium instead of cables to communicate and exchange data among
computers and other network devices. Nowadays wireless networks are widely used in many
sectors like government organizations, healthcare-centers, businesses, and home use. The
wireless networks gain more popularity as it offers many benefits to users such as portability and
flexibility, ease of installation, lower installation costs, increased productivity, and scalability.
However, despite of the benefits, wireless networks have too many security threats. The denial of
service (DoS), loss of confidentiality and integrity, preventing authorized users from accessing
the network, corruption of data, and degrading network performance are the threats typically
associated with wireless networks. Anyone who uses it should be aware of.
This research paper will give detail study of wireless network’s security issues and its
solutions. First, it will give a brief concept of wireless networks in the introductory section. In
this paper, a survey and a systematic review has been done on all the possible security threats
like Denial of Service, Man-in-the-Middle Attacks, Spoofing, and Eavesdropping encountered in
wireless networks that may occur in the present and future scenarios. In this paper, it has
examined previously developed security methods and tools to find out their effectiveness and
failure rates. All the difficulties and limitations of these security methods are presented in the
problem statement section. After a thorough research, we have presented our new proposed
methods which will help to protect wireless networks from such types of security threats. Our
proposed methods are Advanced Wireless Fidelity Protected Access (AWPA) and Advanced
