,Summary
We started by choosing 4 airports. We were then able to compare them to our fictitious airport, namely
LWG.
We have for each airport made a DESTEP analysis, (demography, economy, society and the cultural part,
technology, ecology, as well as the political part). We can see after our analysis that we have to deal with
four very close airports since they are all large international HUBs located in economically strong and
developed countries. After that, we had to look at the land side of our airports. We were then able to
make an analysis and comparison of the infrastructures of the airports on the city side and terminals to
come and see if an upgrade was necessary with the increase in traffic and when this should be done.
We have come to the conclusion that without the COVID crisis we would have to increase the surface area
of the airport infrastructure by 1118 square meters to absorb the peak in traffic by 2030.

, Preface
We want to find out whether a runway is suitable for an aircraft type, therefore we can test the
characteristics of the runway to find out. We are going to make an airport analysis to see if the runway
meets the ICAO requirements. However, these are not the only factors that determine whether or not an
aircraft is allowed to land on the runway. The airport must also be able to demonstrate whether the
runway is hard enough to carry the aircraft without any problems. This makes it very important that clear
agreements are made so that all airports and airlines can carry out the same checks. This can only happen if
the same rules are enforced all over the world. Later in this report we will go into more detail about which
rules these are and what characteristics a runway needs for a type of aircraft.
In this report we are looking for 1 of the 16 airports that have the same similarities as our Leeuwenburg
airport. First we looking at our largest type of aircraft. We are going to see if this plane can even land at one
of the other airports. As a result, we exclude several airports and we continued our search based on the
other characteristics that the airports have.
The structure of this report is as follows, the first chapter is about the runway requirements of the A 380.
The second chapter we going to eliminate several airports using the information of chapter one. In chapter
three we look at the catchment erea’s of the leftover airports. In chapter 4 we will make a DESTEP analysis
on the remaining airports. In chapter 5 we look at the airside and the landside of the airports. In chapter six
were going to tell about the aviation facilitation. In chapter seven till 10 we are looking at 1 airport and tell
something about the terminal capacity and the peak hours, and we are going to discus if we may expand
the airport.
