Afrofuturism
Afrofuturism refers to an aesthetic and literary movement that has gained traction among
individuals of African origin and those of other cultures throughout the world. The cultural art
form of Afrofuturism incorporates the history, science fiction, and imagination necessary to
explore Black American adventure1. The primary goal of Afrofuturism is to reestablish ties
between modern-day African Americans and their African origin that has yet to be lost to time.
Afrofuturism is more widely practiced since it was inspired by black historical painters who
created legendary monsters with American and African roots. The film industry is arguably the
most prominent artistic medium to have thoroughly addressed Afrofuturism. Black Americans
can succeed in Afrofuturism, which rejects the assumption that the standards of others should
judge one's achievements. Afrofuturism has evolved into a positive outlook that encourages
African-Americans to value their unique skills and abilities.
Projection on Hollywood
Afrofuturism liberates women from the constraints of history and the present. To
reposition their audience, the women of the Afro-futurist movement highlight the boundless
opportunities available to women. Many of these ladies defy the stereotypical role of the
contemporary female artist. There has always been a glaring lack of black characters or
