Introduction
This paper aims to identify potential vulnerabilities and countermeasures associated with
big data security and privacy. Security of Big Data means the precautions and ways to protect
Big Data systems and analytics against intrusion, theft, and other threats. Privacy is the right or
ability of a person or group to restrict access to their data by parties other than those to whom it
was initially provided (Tao et al., 2019). Thus, security is concerned with safeguarding Big Data
against malicious assaults or inappropriate usage, whereas privacy is concerned with using and
regulating individual data. The growing reliance of businesses on big data analytics presents
opportunities and threats to data security and privacy.
Privacy Issues in Big Data
There are three phases are involved in protecting the privacy and security of big data
which are data creation, storage, and analysis. Information privacy refers to an individual's or
community's control over disseminating personally identifiable information. However, security
protects information from intrusion via technological measures. Because of big data's
significance, it is crucial to safeguard its confidentiality and privacy. To keep daily activities
running smoothly and efficiently, widespread technological adoption is essential (Tran & Hu,
2019). For this reason, companies have invested heavily in data management systems to help
them handle the mountain of data they acquire and store. Analyzing this data allows for the
extraction of useful information.
Data generation, data warehousing, and data processing are the three pillars upon which
the security and privacy of big data rest. To guarantee the complete safety of extensive data,
taking precautions at each of these three steps is necessary. Two safeguards can be used to
