Objectives
1. To understand the various distributed system models and evolving computing
paradigms
2. To gain knowledge in virtualization of computer resources
3. To realize the reasons for migrating into cloud
4. To introduce the various levels of services that can be achieved by a cloud.
5. To describe the security aspects in cloud and the services offered by a cloud.

Cloud Computing Fundamentals: Definition of Cloud computing, Roots of Cloud
Computing, Layers and Types of Clouds, Desired Features of a Cloud, Cloud Infrastructure
Management, Infrastructure as a Service Providers, Platform as a Service Providers.
Computing Paradigms: High-Performance Computing, Parallel Computing, Distributed
Computing, Cluster Computing, Grid Computing.
UNIT- II
Migrating into a Cloud: Introduction, Broad Approaches to Migrating into the Cloud, the
Seven-Step Model of Migration into a Cloud, Enriching the ‘Integration as a Service’
Paradigm for the Cloud Era, the Onset of Knowledge Era the Evolution of SaaS, Evolution of
Saas.
UNIT- III
Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) & Platform (PAAS): Virtual machines provisioning
