Make sure to watch the video till the end to get all your questions answered. Let's start with the basic
question:
What is UGC NET Exam?
The UGC NET exam is taken by students who want to start their career as an assistant professor or
lecturer. It is also taken by students who want to pursue research or do a PhD.
There are two types of candidates who clear this exam:
Candidates who are eligible to become an assistant professor.
Candidates who have cleared both NET and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and have the option to
either go into the research field or become an assistant professor.
The UGC NET exam is conducted under the guidance of UGC (University Grants Commission). Until
June 2018, the exam was conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), but from
December 2018 onwards, it is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency).
NET stands for National Eligibility Test, and NTA is the body that conducts important exams like JEE
and NEET.
Now, let's clarify some common doubts:
What is the Difference Between NET and JRF?
NET and JRF are essentially the same exam. If you clear a particular percentage, you clear NET. If you
clear a slightly higher percentage, you clear NET and JRF. You only need to give one exam to qualify
for NET or NET and JRF.
When filling out the examination form, you will find two options: NET and NET + JRF. You have to
checkmark one of them. If you checkmark NET and clear the cutoff for NET, you will be eligible for the
post of assistant professor. If you checkmark NET and JRF and clear the cutoff for both, you will have
the option to either pursue research or become an assistant professor.
