Global Warming: Causes, Effects, and Prevention
Oh no, global warming is coming! But what exactly is global warming
and how does it impact our lives and the environment? Global warming
refers to the rising of the average temperature on Earth. Over the last
century, the Earth has warmed by an average of one degree Celsius, and
it is projected to increase by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius by the end of the
21st century. This change in climate will lead to more erratic weather,
extinction of species, and other challenges.
Causes of Global Warming
The main factor responsible for global warming is the greenhouse
effect. Humans have been burning large amounts of fossil fuels, such as
oil and gas, which release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This
carbon dioxide acts like a blanket, trapping heat from the sun and
warming the Earth. Deforestation is another significant contributor to
global warming as it reduces the number of trees that absorb carbon
dioxide.
Effects of Global Warming
Global warming has various effects on our planet, including
unpredictable weather patterns, rising sea levels, and melting of sea ice.
These changes can have severe consequences for both humans and
animals, making life harder for many species and increasing the risk of
natural disasters.
Preventing Global Warming
While global warming is a significant challenge, we can all contribute to
preventing it. Small changes in our daily lives can make a difference,
such as using energy-saving light bulbs, walking or biking for short
distances instead of driving, turning off electrical items when not in use,
recycling, reducing food waste, and planting trees. Every individual has
the power to be a superhero in the fight against global warming.
