Maintaining security for the people within the prison building is very important. There are
various different measures that ensures the security of people is always there. It's important
that the staff and prisoners feel safe in the building. One of the security measures within a
prison is making sure that the people in the building should be there. The way this security
measure is conducted is by ensuring that all the offenders are wearing the correct uniform
given. This allows the workers to notice they are one of the offenders. Another security
measure for people is that the officers also have a certain uniform. This can quickly identify
between who the offenders are and who they officers are. The police guards also wear ID
badges. Wearing ID badges is compulsory for the officers are they won't be allowed entry
without. This allows them to recognise each other and can give them access to certain pacts
of the building. To ensure the safety of the guards, the prisoners will be handcuffed when
being moved around the prison, decreasing the chance of the offender attacking the guards.
Another security measure to keep the officers safe is having cell gates. The cell gates will
keep the offender secure in their cells instead of them being able to freely walk around the
property. Furthermore the prison officers will carry out security checks on the prisoners, the
ensure they don’t have any contraband items on them. Another security check the guards
will carry out is on the visitors who meet prisoner's. To allows the officers to see if they are
being any inhibited items in. Having theses security measures for people will ensure the
safety of everyone within the prison.
