•Antidiabetic drugs that treat diabetes
mellitus y lowering glucose levels in the
blood.
•Insulin: Insulin is synthesized in the
(Beta) cells. Action of insulin is
converting glucose levels in the blood.
,Mechanism of action
•In liver, insulin increases glucose uptake and
glycogen synthesis.
•In muscle - Increases glucose uptake and
utilization,
•In adipose tissue - increases glucose uptake and
storage as a fat and glycogen.
•It reduces breakdown of fats and protein also.
