1. What is and what is not protected by the first amendment?
The first amendment protects religious freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of the press,
freedom of peaceful assembly, and the right to petition the government to redress
grievances. It does not protect speeches that can insight imminent violence or violence
during assemblies.
2. When has our freedom of speech been infringed upon?
When charged or punished for expressing your opinions and not even allowed to give an
explanation like the boy who had a T-shirt with the words “Homosexuality is shameful”
in school.

People saw the need to limit their freedoms for a larger goal-internal security
