,Biotechnology is the manipula2on of living organisms and organic
material to serve human needs.
,Red biotechnology is related to the medical and pharmaceu2cal industries, and health
preserva2on.[3] This branch involves the produc2on of vaccines and an2bio2cs,
regenera2ve therapies, crea2on of ar2ficial organs and new diagnos2cs of diseases.[3]
As well as the development of hormones, stem cells, an2bodies, siRNA and diagnos2c
tests.
White biotechnology also known as industrial biotechnology, is mostly based on the
applica2on of bio-catalysis in industrial processes.[3] It uses living cells from yeast,
molds, bacteria, plants, and enzymes to synthesize products that are easily
degradable, require less energy and create less waste.
Green biotechnology involves the crea2on of more fer2le and resistant seeds, plants
and resources by using specialized techniques.[3] The concept emerged due to
concern about the world's exponen2ally growing popula2on.[3] It is commonly
considered as the next phase of green revolu2on, which can be seen as a plaJorm to
eradicate world hunger by using technologies which enable the produc2on of more
fer2le and resistant, towards bio2c and abio2c stress, plants and ensures applica2on
of environmentally friendly fer2lizers and the use of biopes2cides, it is mainly focused
on the development of agriculture.
Blue biotechnology is based on the exploita2on of sea resources to create products
and industrial applica2ons.[3] This branch of biotechnology is the most used for the
industries of refining and combus2on principally on the produc2on of bio-oils with
photosynthe2c micro-algae.
