Combined Operations in Q. (Guide)
Combined operations are mathematical expressions where two (2) or more basic operations
(+, -, x, ÷) intervene in the same exercise.
Example:
Divide Multiply
3 + 8 ÷ 2 - 3 x 1
Addition Subtraction
Subtraction
To resolve this type of operations, you must take into account:
1-. The problems are solved in the following order:
Division Multiplication Addition and Subtraction
2-. You start by solving what is inside the parentheses ( ), then the brackets and finally
the key
3-. You must remember the steps to add numbers in Z.
a) Numbers with equal signs are added and the same sign is placed.
( - 4 ) + ( - 6 ) = - 10
( + 7 ) + ( + 2 ) = + 9; which is the same as what we say ( 7 ) + (2 ) = 9
b) Numbers with different signs are subtracted and the sign of the number that has the
greatest absolute value is placed.
( - 7 )+( 9 ) = 2
( - 8 ) + ( 3 ) = -5
4-. Remember the Multiplication of signs.
