VECTORS ON THE PLANE. (BASIC CONCEPT)
1-.WHAT IS A COORDINATE SYSTEM?
It is a system that uses one or more numbers to uniquely determine the position of a
point or geometric object.
2-. WHAT IS AN ORDERED PAIR?
It is a pair of mathematical objects, in which one element is distinguished from
another. The ordered pair whose first element is “a” and whose second element is “b”.
3-.WHAT IS A VECTOR?
It is a mathematical entity like a straight line or plane, it is represented by a straight
line segment, oriented within three-dimensional Euclidean space.
4-.WHAT ARE THE ELEMENTS OF A VECTOR?
The elements of a vector are:
a) Module or Magnitude: it is the length of the directed segment that contains the
vector.
A MODULE B
b) Direction or Line of Action: it is the direction of the line that contains said vector.
The direction can be: horizontal, vertical and inclined.
Direction: Horizontal
Module: 3 units
Direction: Vertical
Module: 4 units
c) The Point: is the point where the magnitude is considered applied to whom the
vector is representing. 0
