SIMPLE PRESENT
USE:
When something happens repeatedly, how often something happens,
one action follows another, things in general. Future meaning:
timetables, programmes
SIGNAL WORDS:
Every day, sometimes, always, often, usually, seldom, never, first, then
FORM:
Infinitive + he/ she/ it + s
But if we use a negative sentence we don’t add the s because it’s
already being added in doeSn’t
PRESENT CONTINUOUS
USE
It’s use when something is happening at the same time of speaking or
close to it. Future meaning when you have arranged and decided to do
something
SIGNAL WORDS
Now, at the moment, look! listen!
FORM
To BE (am/are/is) + infinitive + ing
PAST SIMPLE
USE
Action finished in the past most of the time it isn’t connected to the
present
SIGNAL WORDS
Last..., …. ago, in 1990, yesterday
FORM
Regular: infinitive + ED or verb in the second column
PAST CONTINUOUS
USE
An action happened in the middle of an other action, someone was doing
something at a certain time(past) and you don’t know whether it was
finished or not
