My Background
In 2020, I earned a bachelor's degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from the University
of Sharjah, UAE. I worked until October 2021 before moving to Australia in January 2022.
That April, I embarked on my DSR journey, culminating in passing my exams by September.
Journey Through DSR
I was incredibly overwhelmed and disoriented, unsure of where to begin. Understanding that
the exam encompassed the 3 domains of clinical, public health, and food service
management, I still found myself at a loss for what to concentrate on, especially with the need
to integrate Australian-specific recommendations and guidelines into my existing knowledge.
I was under immense stress. If you're in a similar situation right now, know that you are not
alone in this.
Upon receiving my exam approval, I was provided a list of mentors—individuals who had
previously navigated this exam successfully. Desperate for guidance, I reached out to over 20
people on that list. Some responded quickly, others took weeks, and a few never replied.
Additionally, I found solace and assistance in joining Overseas Dietitian groups on Facebook
and WhatsApp.
I meticulously compiled all the advice and information from mentors into a single document,
which became the foundation for my study guide. This guide was a mix of practical tips and
key focus areas.
Only once I had all the materials and a clear outline did I commence my studying. I dedicated
the months of July and August to intensive preparation, often dedicating up to nine hours a
day as the exam approached. This intensive, last-minute studying approach has always
worked for me.
Having passed the theoretical and oral components of the exam, I began my career in
dietetics in Australia. However, the memory of the confusion and stress I experienced
remained with me. Recognizing the challenges faced by others currently undertaking this
journey, I was motivated to create this guide, hoping to provide some direction and alleviate
the sense of being lost that I once felt. While I won't divulge specific questions, this guide
aims to provide a robust framework for your study. Please respect the effort by adhering to
