INTRODUCTION: PMI is stand for Product Manufacturing Information. It is a computer aided used for designing, manufacturing, quality of a product and 3D CAD files that are needed in producing a product component. The PMI attributes include the CD &T, 3 dimensional annotation, dimension and the surface finish.PMI is usually governed by the ASME and the ISO of industry standard. Under PMI it include many information related to Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T), Bill of materials, about the surface finishes, the specification of the material, the weld symbolic, notes and the metadata, engineering changing the order, legal export or proprietary control notices and others digital data.MBD is also stands for Model Based Definition it also includes the practices of using 3D CAD and the machines readable PMI. It is used to improve the efficiency of the automated tasks which are given out, to help reduce in the scrap, improved the product iteration and its time and also to interoperability among the entire stakeholder in the lifestyles of a product. The main objective of the PMI is to define the use of the words and symbol semantics which are use to communicate in the manufacturing information in the form of 3D computer .The use of PMI allows the software developer to automate the various design in the CAD, Manufacturing of the CAM and the inspection in the CMM function which the engineer can associated with these function to process the PMI directly. IMPORTANCE OF PMI/MDB PMI and MDB both use in the practice of the 3D CAD model. Both are an important part for the digital information in Industry for manufacturing it highlights the uses of the internet of things and dig data and the use of smart technologies. It is also used to reduced the time of scrap and bring automate of tasks.PMI/MDB plays a significant role in many sector of the society because it enables the transition of the 2D drawing to the 3D model based workflow which helps and improve in the manufacturing system in the coming days generation. With the 2D drawing based workflow in the manufacturing industries many tasks we done with manual it require many time for the engineer in their work process. The manufacturing and the control of the quality engineers sometimes need to interpret the CR& T and some other detail into Coordinate Measuring Machine(CMM) software, Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software and also Computer Aided Inspection(CAI)software but depending on its work and the complex it take the engineer weeks to completed their presentation. However with the coming of PMI/MDB it has make work easy for the engineer in the work process as it require less time consumption and also improve in their work making it easy for them to handle and the process of 3D gives more appropriate information and its helps in understanding the process better for the reviewer it also help in maintaining their data and their work analytics more safe and organize. It saves the time compared to the 2D drawing system which takes time. It also help the engineer in managing their time and it also improve in their designing system and the product approach .3D helps the engineer the see better resolution and the design in the next generation in 3D help them in explaining and making their work load more easy. It helps the engineer and manufacturing companies in their learning and gives new ideas to apply new insights. It also reduces in human error and the work load of a human. It is also a better way for communication and help in the collaboration between various stakeholders. It also helps in giving useful information within fewer minutes. It also improves the check of higher quality inspection with the measurement to optimize algorithms. CHALLENGES FACED TO IMPLEMENT PMI/MDB With the new platform of the digital information introduces there were lot of challenges faced in order to implement this digital by replacing the old traditional use of the 2D system in the manufacturing process. Engineering designer had to switch their method of drawing from 2D to 3D works model based even though the use of this new system were more beneficial for the ROI and the process were more efficiency for the companies but the engineers designer did not see the immediate benefits of this system for themselves as it require them the know the learning process require to use 3D.With the replacement of 2D drawing and coming of 3D it is based on the machine readable so it burden the engineer and they must have proper skills to create and to interpret the CD&T. New set of skill were needed for the engineer in order to get use and studies the process of the 3D system so that they can get adapt to the new system. In earlier day the traditional practices and their process were more easy and easy stable for the manufacturing system but with the coming of new digital platform it changes the business process and their climate. With the coming of new invention the market has to time to time innovate with the new system and cutting of cost are the most important factor for a companies they have to face in order to survive.
