RF power amplifiers, graphs and simulation of the RF power amplifiers, detailed
description about IC RF power amplifiers, and conclusion.
, Introduction:
Before, the signal takes up by the antenna receiver does not have enough strength
to be used in its current form therefore, using RF amplifiers in order to converts a
low-power signal to a higher power one.
Types of RF power amplifiers:
There are many types of RF power amplifiers and it used for satellite
communication, and wireless communications. Broadband Amplifiers, Log
Amplifiers, Linear Amplifiers and there are others. Broadband Amplifiers provide a
moderate transmission gain over longer bandwidths while keeping the noise figure
low (Shireen, 2019.para2). Log Amplifiers, provides a greater gain curve where the
output is a natural log of the input voltage (Shireen, 2019.para4). Linear Amplifiers,
provide high-quality linear performance maintaining the proportional linear
relationship of inputs and outputs (Shireen, 2019.para8). every type of RF power
amplifiers used for application such as electronic warfare, mobile internet.
Linear amplifiers:
Linear RF amplifiers are used to increase the power level of variable-amplitude RF
signals therefore, most audio amplifiers are linear. Linear RF amplifiers are class A,
B, and C. Class A linear RF amplifier are biased so that they conduct continuously.
Also, conducts for 360° of an input sine wave. Class B linear RF amplifier, the
transistor in class B amplifier conducts on only one-half, or 180°, of the sine wave
input. This means that only one-half of the sine wave is amplified therefore, use two
class B amplifiers so that both the positive and negative alternations of the input
are amplified.
Example about Class A linear RF amplifier circuit:
