• A rite of passage is an act of ceremony that identifies the
transition in human life from one stage to another basically
transition from adolescence to adulthood (Scheer, et.al, 2007).
• Rite of passage is a mark indicative of transitioning from
adolescence to adulthood .
• An adolescent make a great effort to achieve his or her own
sense of identity.
• Example of rites of passage include: moving to a high school,
graduating from high school, birthday celebration, prom,
obtaining a driver's license, getting first car, landing one's first
job, etc (Scheer, et.al, 2007).
• The society and family has a great role in the development of
the individual's sense of identity.
