Sabic was founded in 1976 by a royal decree. Sabic started to
produce in 1981. It is ranked among the world’s largest
petrochemicals manufacturers. SABIC is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
70% of company’s shared is owned by Saudi Aramco. Remaining
30% is publicly traded on the Saudi stock exchange. The company
operates in over 50 countries. It will have a net income of $17.8
million in 2020. In 2020 Sabic produced production of 60.8 million
metric tons.
Sabic largest business unit is petrochemicals which accounts for
bulk of company’s total production. Sabic agriculture nutrient
business produces a massive range of varieties of fertilisers. The
fertilisers are from general to highly specialised. Sabic is a market
leader in key products such as ethylene, ethylene glycogen,
methanol, MTBE, and polyethylene. Sabic uses natural gases e.g.,
methane to produce methanol and ammonia. This is then
transformed into urea. Urea is used to turn into a fertiliser. Sabic
also uses ethane and propane to produce several chemical
products.
Sabic has innovation hubs in over 5 key geographies: Europe,
Middle East, USA, South Asia, North Asia. Sabic's global
technology develops every year, producing over 95 new products
every year. Sabic is backed by more than 9,946 global patents.
