In this assignment I will explain the principal psychological perspectives as applied to
the understanding of the development of individuals. I will also talk about the
contribution of contrasting psychological theories and I will also assess the
contribution of complementary and contrasting psychological theories to the
understanding of the two specific behaviours.
There are many reasons why people behave in the certain way. For example, there
are behaviours like anxiety and depression. People might feel like that because they
have had a very bad experience in the past of their lives. One of the psychological
perspectives which could support the development of the individuals is the
psychodynamic approach. The reason why people have anxieties and depression
could be because they have had experienced loss of someone or maybe they were
bullied at a young age, this means that they are not happy with themselves and they
might have anxiety because of that. People might feel like that because of the
separation and loss of someone close to them e.g. their best friend or their parent.
There are other possible treatments like psychoanalysis and dream interpretation
which could determine the reason people behave a certain way. If assessing this
approach in how affective it is at the understanding of the anxiety and depression it is
effective but there could also be other issues which might cause it, e.g. they might’ve
not have had the emotional experience where the individuals have had support.
It is important to cope with the stress as it can act as barrier to live a life fully. There
could be issues in the future like self-harm which is because the individual might
have been suffering with the depression and they might’ve been feeling miserable.
