OF THE HEART
What is the conduction system of the heart
?
The conduction system of the heart consist of specialized myogenic P-cells (pale cell
or cardiomyocytes. They have the ability to self-excite without any external stimuli. Chens
UNIQUE FEATURES OF OUR HEART
01 ·
automatisity -
ability of our heart to generate impulse without any external inf
nerve impulses) but can cause its own excitation (myogenic nature)
.
SA node is 'self-firing' and can produce its own repolarization - de
02 ·
conduction -
ability of heart to conduct impulses from place of orgin to myocardium
03
. excitability-ability of heart to become excited due to impulses
.
04. contractility-ability of heart to contract due to impulses & in turn pump blood into
vessels
.
05 refractoriness -
ability of excited cardiomyocytes to not be activated again due to
impulse (no overlap or
superposition of excitation)
. It can be ab
where cardiomyocytes won't respond to any extra impulses or relative w
be excited due to very powerful impulse.
