Training Establishment

1.1 Introduction to Sanken Constructions Private Limited

The Sanken Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd is private organization and it was established in 1977
to provide engineering construction services on commercial basis. The main function of
Sanken Lanka is providing building construction to various projects.
The Mitsui Construction Company of Japan commenced operation in Sri Lanka in 1977,
by the opening of branch in Colombo. Mitsui Construction Company Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd was
incorporated in May 1984, under FIAC authorization to undertake civil construction work.
In December 1985, the FIAC authorization was extended to include the leasing/hiring of
industrial equipment. In April 1988, Mitsui Construction Company Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd
changed its name to Sanken Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. In June 1988 Sanken Lanka obtained FIAC
approval to undertake the employment of staff for such overseas construction work as well
as to undertake the employment of staff for such overseas construction work. Whilst in
June 1988, the FIAC approvals were extended to cover the additional activities of the
construction of middle and upper class houses as well as commercial complexes. Then
March 1991, approval was obtained for the sale of ready mixed concrete.

In 2011,Sanken Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., changed its name to Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd
Sanken Construction is an ICTAD C1 Graded (Highest Rank) company, with ISO
9001:2008 QMS Certification.and Sanken Construction certified with OHSAS
18001:2007 Certification.And in 2013 Sanken Construction certified with OHSAS
18001:2007 Certifications. And now a days Sanken Construction is in process to obtain
ISO 14001:2004- EMS Certification.

The permanent staff of numbers over 300 of which about 150 are technical staff. More than
80 of the staff are professionally qualified engineers, architects and geologists. The
engineering staff has wide experience in investigations, planning, and design. Supervision
and management of major engineering and building projects and most of them have received
post graduate training overseas.

Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd is one of the leading Construction Company and RMC
manufactures of Sri Lanka. We fully understand the severity of pollution generated by
construction and RMC manufacturing processes and therefore we are fully committed to
reduce all the significant environmental impacts resulting from our activities, products and
services by incorporating recycle, recover and reuse options to provide a better, cleaner and
safer environment for sustainable development. To achieve our goals we are putting our best
efforts for success establishment, implementation and maintenance of Environmental
Management System (EMS) according to International Standard ISO 14001:2004.
